Update from Mrs. Dalmut – September 24, 2014

Dear Parents,

We had a surprise “Uniform Drill” today. Every student who was in their proper uniform for today earned a dress-down pass for Friday the 26th. We believe in Redemption! So if your child was not completely in the proper uniform, they have tomorrow to earn their dress-down pass. Please help your child ensure that they are in the proper uniform tomorrow. We had at least 90% of the students in the proper uniform today. The card that they received says “Thank you! You made a difference today!” This is my way of thanking them for helping to keep our school environment a pleasant one for learning. Teachers like to teach — not police uniforms! Thank you for your support!

Please remember that Friday, Sept. 26, is an early dismissal. School dismisses at 11:30. Extended Day will be open until 6pm. Teachers will be in meetings all afternoon, so the office will be closed. Please come to the Extended Day door to pick up your children after carpool is over.

We have a spur-of-the-moment service project for you! Mrs. Melissa Temme (mother of Scarlet in grade 1) will be going to Tanzania in early October. She will be spending some time at an orphanage in Arusha, right outside Mt. Kilimonjaro, run by the Anglican Church.  There are 28 children there, ranging in age from 3-17, all of whom speak English as well as their native Swahili. Our first graders are sending over pictures that they are making especially for them. The 5th graders will be writing notes of encouragement and friendship. We would also like to send over some items that they would enjoy: pens, notebooks, ball caps, books, markers, crayons, coloring books, etc. If you send gently used ball caps, please be sure to clean them (you can put them through the dishwasher). The students like American sports teams! Please send any items in before Wednesday, Oct. 1. The 1st graders will be collecting them from each classroom next  week. Thank you for your generosity!

7th & 8th grade parents: There is a dance for our 7th and 8th graders at St. Bernadette this Friday, Sept. 26 — from 7:00- 9:00pm.  The flyer and the permission form have gone home with your children. Please note that (1) they must have a signed permission form with them or they will not be admitted, and (2) the dance hours are 7:00-9:00pm. Please be on time to pick them up! Four schools: St. Ambrose, Nativity, Holy Spirit, and St. Bernadette take turns hosting dances so our children get an opportunity for social activities. We are always so proud of our students and how well they represent our school!

Correction to today’s flyer: Announcing the One Stop Shopping Page for all Activity and Event Sign-ups! Please note that this is the link: http://stambroseschool.org/activities/sign-ups/.

LEGO Club details: Mrs. Warnock wants you to email her at MWarnock@stambroseschool.org if you did not sign your child up for the Lego Club and you want him/her to join the club. You do not need to sign up on-line. In fact, we have disconnected that signup link because we didn’t want the children’s names out in cyberspace! Just one more precaution we are taking for your children’s safety. You may, however, sign up online to be a Lego Club volunteer.

Thank you for all your prayers. I have no news to report, but  I know that God is good, and He will take care of my Mother.

God bless,

Barbara Dalmut
