Mrs. Patricia Kiernan is a native of New York City, where she taught Grades 4 & 5 in two Catholic elementary schools in the Diocese of Brooklyn for 12½ years. During that time, she earned her Master of Science degree in Education. When she and her family moved to Springfield, Virginia, Mrs. Kiernan worked as a substitute teacher in the Fairfax County Public Schools for a year. In 1999, she was hired at St. Ambrose Catholic School as the 6th grade homeroom teacher. For five years, she taught Math and Science in grades 5 & 6. After one year as the 8th grade homeroom teacher, Mrs. Kiernan resumed her former position as the 6th grade homeroom teacher. This is Mrs. Kiernan’s ninth year at St Ambrose Catholic School, teaching Grade 6 Math & Science, Grade 7 Math, and Grade 8 Pre-Algebra, as well as assisting the principal with some administrative responsibilities.
In her spare time, Mrs. Kiernan enjoys traveling, reading, stitchery, and solving Sudoku & Numbrix puzzles. Frequent trips to South Carolina to visit her daughter, son-in-law, and two young grandchildren also keep her busy.
