Mrs. Nancy Dean and her husband are both New Jersey natives. Mr. and Mrs. Dean have been married for 28 years and are blessed with two wonderful children, Emily (16), an 11th grader at Woodson High School, and Ben (13), an 8th grader at St. Ambrose School. They also have a Yellow Lab named Sandy who sheds ALL OVER EVERYTHING!!
Mrs. Dean has taught at St. Ambrose School for 8 years and is a member of St. Ambrose parish. She is a graduate of George Mason University, and has a BS in Accounting. She is currently attending the University of Virginia, working towards a Masters in Education. Before her teaching career began, she worked in Hospital Finance for about 10 years after leaving the Ernst and Young accounting firm where she worked as an auditor. She has always felt a special passion towards St. Ambrose School and feels blessed that God has given her a means to share her knowledge and experiences in life with such special children.
Mrs. Dean is an avid runner and loves the thrill of competing in races just as much as she enjoys leisurely weekend runs. She has run three marathons over the last few years and enjoys challenging herself in different running events. She is hoping that one day she and her children will run a marathon together.
In 2002, Mrs. Dean participated in the Ride to Remember, which was a memorial bike ride from NYC (ground zero) to the Pentagon in Washington, DC. It was a 250 mile ride that she completed in 4 days to honor those who lost their lives on September 11th 2001. It was one of the most awesome experiences of her life. Mrs. Dean and her husband both like to bicycle and have ventured out on several bicycling adventures of their own. Occasionally during the summer months they will spend a week cycling from the Eastern shore of MD to different destinations in NJ. Mrs. Dean and her husband enjoy their summer pilgrimages together and look forward to not only the physical challenge that their bicycling vacations offer, but also enjoy the beautiful scenery along the way. It is a great way to keep life in perspective.
Her family spends a lot of time on the Eastern shore of Maryland. They have spent the last 12 years renovating a historic summer home where they enjoy boating, kayaking, fishing and swimming.
