Principal’s Post – June 13
Posted on June 21, 2016
Dear Parents,
It’s hard to believe that we are in our last week of school! I will be sending out an end-of-year message later this week, but wanted to update you with a few things:
We are pleased to welcome Mrs. Kimberly Brox as our 8th grade homeroom teacher. Mrs. Brox is a military spouse, who came to Northern Virginia a year ago and has been teaching at St. Bernadette School. During a previous posting she has also taught at St. Timothy School. Mrs. Brox has a BA in History, a Math teaching certification and has taught middle school CCD for several years. We are excited to welcome her to our St. Ambrose family. We also welcome – back – Ms. Jaime Vincent. Ms. Vincent did her student teaching here at St. Ambrose School during this past year. We are delighted that we have a place for her in 1st grade. She brings an enthusiasm. She will be joined by Ms. Mallery Holleran, who will be the instructional assistant next year.
On June 18th the 5pm Mass will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of our parish. There will be a special reception following Mass in the school gym (the first church!) and there will be a display of photos of the parish during those 50 years. All are welcome. Fr. Fisher has requested that students who attend wear their uniforms (winter, if possible) and form an honor guard from the church to the school. If you can, please consider having your children be there for this wonderful celebration.
On Wednesday you will receive a back-to-school packet for next year. This will contain all relevant forms that should be returned to school as soon as possible. Included in this, is the lunch program forms for next year. We are introducing a new program for Monday through Wednesday: Smart Lunches. Please check out their website at smartlunches.com. This offers online ordering and a selection of choices. Meals will be delivered to the school with your child’s name on it. Many schools in the diocese use Smart Lunches and give rave reviews. For those of you who attended the assembly with Officer O’Leary, you had the chance to see their presentation, and I only heard positive feedback. We will keep Chick-fil-A for Thursdays, and pizza for Fridays.
The slate of PTO officers for next year will be sent out at the end of this week – we have only a couple of slots to fill!
Enjoy this last week!
Sincerely,
Angela Rowley
Principal
