School year 2016-2017

Dear Parents:

As we are nearing the end of the school year we will be saying “au revoir” (NOT “goodbye”) to some of our beloved teachers and staff.

As you know Mr. Dave Scoffone will be leaving us to take up the challenge of 1st grade teacher at St. Timothy’s School in Chantilly.  This is to help with family logistics!  His replacement will be announced next week.

The dynamic 1st grade team of Mrs. Nell Mulhern and Mrs. Ann Gallagher is retiring – almost!  Mrs. Mulhern has a new grandson that she will be helping to care for, but will join us one day a week for resource help.  She has the following message for you:

Dear St. Ambrose School Community,

It is time for this First Grade teacher to pass the torch…I have decided to take care of the newest baby in the family.  It has been a wonderful 13 years at St. Ambrose and the community has been a most special one.  I leave with some regret but I am also looking forward to spending more time with my children and with my grandchildren.  Thank you for all that you have been to me and for all that you have done for me.  I remain most gratefully yours,

Nell Mulhern

The new 1st grade team will be finalized next week, but will include Ms. Mallery Holleran, who has been an invaluable Monday/Friday assistant in the 1st grade.

Mrs. Barbara Campbell will be returning to the IRS this summer to practice law.  Her two beautiful daughters will remain St. Ambrose students.  We are currently interviewing for her position.

In addition, our Art teacher, Ms. Kate Lindquist, and our Music teacher, Mrs. Kathy D’Alelio will be moving on to new pastures.  Please see the messages from them below:

I have been part of the theatre staff at Paul VI High School as assistant director and choreographer since 2008.  The current Director of the Theatre Department has decided not to return in the fall, and so I was offered the position and accepted.  I have had a wonderful year teaching music to our students and will miss being a part of St. Ambrose School.

Mrs. D’Alelio

I want to thank all for the warm welcome to the St. Ambrose community. It has been my pleasure to be able to touch the lives of the students and families here. I wish you a splendid summer.Peace and blessings.

Miss Lindquist

Our new Art teacher will be Ms. Tikia Bonner.  We will share her creativity and talent with Corpus Christi, where she has taught for a few years.  Ms. Jamie Carpenter will come on board as Music teacher, and bring her talent to our school.  She has been a long-term substitute at St. James School, and gives voice and piano lessons.  In addition, Ms. Carpenter will be doing her Masters in Music Education starting in the fall.

Our beloved cafeteria manager, Mrs. Julie Rubio, will be moving on to bigger and better things, but she takes our love and gratitude with her. Partly because of this, our lunch program is being revamped for next year (more information to follow!).

It is hard when family members move away, but they are always family.  We send our best wishes with all of our departing family members, and please join me in welcoming our new family members.

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9

Sincerely,

Angela Rowley
