Update from Mrs. Dalmut Aug. 27, 2014

Dear Parents,

Our Mass schedule has changed for this year. We will be attending the 9:00 Mass every Thursday morning. Our choir (and all those interested in joining) will meet with Mr. Cotton, the Choir Director, after Mass tomorrow. The choir information was sent home in their folders on Monday. Choir is open to students in grades 4-8, and will begin practices next Tuesday.

Friday is an early dismissal — 11:30am. If your child has PE on Friday afternoon, they may still wear their PE uniform. It is quite a treat to wear their PE uniforms!

Co-curricular activities are being set. Here is what we have so far:

  • Monday: Track and Cross-country track (grades 3-8)
  • Tuesday: Choir (grades 4-8)
  • Wednesday: Band (grades 4-8); Girls on the Run (grades 3-5)
  • Thursday: Crochet USA (meets every other week);  Battle of the Books (These two clubs will alternate so that they do not conflict)
  • Friday: Girls on the Run (grades 3-5); Chess Club (details to follow); Lego/Stem Club
  • MathCounts (grades 6-8) — we will meet with the middle school students on Thursday to discuss possible meeting times. Stay tuned.
  • Basketball begins in November, and practices are held in the evenings.
  • Altar servers: Boys in grades 4-8 may become altar servers. They will serve at the school Mass and occasionally at funerals on weekdays. They join the roster for serving at parish Masses on the weekends. There will be a training in the near future.

Life is full of choices. Please help your children make good decisions so that they don’t get over-extended. We have lots of opportunities for after-school activities. The Lego / Stem Club is still under construction. If you want to get involved, please let Kate O’Connor know!

Carpool has gone amazingly well this year. Be sure to turn off your engine when parked in carpool line in the afternoons. Thank you for your cooperation!

God bless,

Barbara Dalmut
