Update from Mrs. Dalmut: Hot Lunch and Basketball Info

Dear Parents,

Confirmation was beautiful last night! I was so proud of our students. They seemed genuinely joyful receiving the sacrament. Confirmation is very special because the recipient is making a mature choice– consciously taking a big step in the strengthening of their faith. Thank you to all teachers and parents who prepared them for this important moment. The reception was a real community celebration — a wonderful opportunity to see friends and family. Thank you to our parents who provided such a welcoming environment for our celebration. God is good — all the time!

Vision and Hearing screening will be done in-house this year. We will test 3rd grade on Nov. 3, and 7th grade on Nov. 24. If you have a child in another grade who needs to be tested, please contact Mrs. Boyle, our School Nurse, at JBoyle@stambroseschool.org.

JCYO Basketball: If your child is going to play basketball, you must fill out four forms, all of which are on our school website. No child may attend practice until they have submitted all their paperwork and paid the fee. It will help the coordinators if you have all four forms submitted together! Practices are about to begin! HOT LUNCH NEWS:

DEADLINE FOR NOVEMBER LUNCHES  is 4:00 Wednesday. We do not accept orders after that time. I hope you are enjoying the addition of Chick-fil-A on Thursdays!

CREDITS: Some people have asked about getting a credit when their child is absent. I thought it might help if I explained why we can’t give credits. We have to place orders at least 3 days in advance. We pay for the food regardless of whether the student (or faculty member) is present at school. The program could never survive if we gave credits for every absence.

Snow days are different — in our agreement with the companies, they do not deliver food on snow days, so everyone gets a credit.

Field trips: Please do not order lunch on days when your child will be gone on a field trip. At the start of the year, we issued credits because we scheduled field trips after parents had already placed hot lunch orders, and we had enough notice to change our orders with the caterers. We are now announcing the dates of field trips on the lunch order form. We hope you will take note of field trip dates when you order. Thank you.

Mrs. Stalnaker is asking you to consider the following when you place orders:

• Please fill out the bottom half completely, double-check that your numbers and dates circled on the calendar match up and send in with correct payment.  (Hint: If you take a picture of your order form with your cell phone, you will always have your order form available!)
• From now on all field trips will be listed on the calendar.  Please make sure you note if your child has a field trip and do not buy hot lunch on that day.
• If your child is sick and has bought hot lunch you may send an email on that day to attendance@stambroseschool.org to either give it to a sibling or come to the school and pick it up.  There are no credits or refunds given because the food has already been bought and prepared for that day and we cannot get a credit from our caterers.

 

CAFETERIA and PLAYGROUND DUTY: Please give us at least 72 hours to find a substitute if you cannot swap your date with someone else. We could use some regular substitutes if you are free during those hours.
