Update from Mrs. Dalmut – Jan. 24

Dear Parents,

This evening’s festivities are a good chance to get your family out for a fun evening before the next storm arrives! Join us for 5:00 Mass, 6:00 Spaghetti Supper (the Knights are already cooking their delicious sauce!), and the 7:30 Comedy Show. It’s Family Night! (See The Buzz for more details).

We followed Fairfax County’s decision last night, and held our Middle School Dance despite all the hype about the weather. The roads were wet, but we are so glad we got to host the event–lots of smiles! Thanks to our Middle School teachers and parents who did such a great job providing a healthy and wholesome opportunity for mingling with students from other Catholic schools. Just one more reason to celebrate the impact Catholic schools have on our young people!

Catholic Schools Week starts tomorrow. Students are invited to wear their school uniforms to Church this weekend. No matter where you attend Mass/Church services, wear the uniform proudly and earn a dress-down pass at a later date. There is one more opportunity to earn a dress-down pass — Posters are due the first day of the week that we attend school this week. We will spread out the dress-down days over the next few weeks, and I will remind you by email so your child doesn’t miss the announcement.

The next storm threatens Monday school. We will continue to follow Fairfax County Schools announcements. Let’s hope this goes around us! Suggestion for a possible snow day: have your children help you clean out closets and storage rooms. You can set aside your items for the 3 Kings Shop next year, or donate them to the Parish Yard Sale the Knights of Columbus are hosting on Feb.21 in the Parish Hall. Both these events are a great way to recycle your treasures. The last yard sale was 4 years ago, and was a huge success. You will find lots of bargains — and will be able to clean out your house too! They will start collecting items on February 6.

FYI, Jackie O’Brien has run the 3-Kings Shop for many years. The Shop is a program that allows students the opportunity to purchase gifts at an extremely affordable price while raising money for St. Ambrose School. It is time to give someone else the opportunity to continue this wonderful school tradition. The coordinator can work alone, or with a partner. Please contact Jackie  at obrienjes@hotmail.com, or 571-340-2882 if you would consider coordinating this worthwhile event. We have lots of parents who support this project, so please prayerfully consider serving as the Coordinator. Thank you! And we all thank you, Jackie!

Enjoy your Saturday! Hope to see many of you at the festivities tonight! Its’ not too late to tell your friends about our Open House tomorrow! I will be greeting people from 8:45-9:45 during Religious Education classes, and then the official Open House is from 11:00am-1:30pm. As you know, the parking lot can be a challenge right at 11:00, so have friends who are not attending 10am Mass come closer to 11:15. We have had a lot of people call or come by the school this week. Thank you for getting the word out!

God bless,

Barbara Dalmut
