Update from Mrs. Dalmut-March 11: Tuition for 2015-16
Posted on March 11, 2015
Dear Parents,
It has been nice to get back in the swing of things! Your children are hard at work, and seem glad to be back in school. It is refreshing to have some sort of normalcy again. Please remember that Monday will be a half-day. We will dismiss at 11:30, and Extended Day will be open for regular hours.
Tuition is supposed to cover the cost of salaries and benefits. In order to get closer to that goal, we have raised tuition 5% this year. Teachers were given a much-deserved raise of 4% diocese-wide. Even with their raise, they are still working for modest salaries compared to their county counterparts. We are very grateful for the sacrifices they make, and the dedication they show to our school. We have a 1:13 teacher: student ratio, in addition to teaching assistants in grades K-4. Our school is very successful because of our talented faculty!
The cost of supervising the playground and lunchroom has been reorganized. Traditionally, we have asked all families to supervise 10 sessions of either Recess or Lunch. As families become busier during daytime hours, it has been difficult to staff with a “volunteer” workforce. Next year, we are including the fee in tuition, rather than asking for it up-front.
See the Tuition and Fees for 2015-16.
If you would like to work in the cafeteria or on the playground, you will still have an opportunity to do so. You will be able to sign up, and receive a check for your services. Mrs. Stalnaker has decided not to return as Cafeteria Supervisor. If you would like to apply for that position, or as an assistant in the cafeteria or the playground, please watch for an announcement in April or May. Once we have a new principal, we will tackle the job of advertising and hiring for these positions.
I am so happy to report that almost all of our faculty will be returning! I will be accepting resumes for teachers, but only have one teacher who is definitely leaving us! I am sad to say that Mrs. Warnock is moving to Maryland. We will miss her and her family! Mrs. Warnock has done w superior job developing the artistic abilities of our students. Please pray for another wonderful Art & Health teacher!
Once again, thank you for your support!
God bless,
Barbara Dalmut
