Update from Mrs. Dalmut – March 20: Spring Uniforms, Letting your light shine, science of gardening, 5k
Posted on March 20, 2015
Dear Parents,
It’s hard to think Spring when it is snowing outside, but let’s try!
Spring Uniforms — Since the 10-day forecast still has us in the cool zone, we will continue with Winter Uniforms until Easter break. However, if the weather changes, we will adjust and allow students to wear either uniform. I will keep you posted. The PTO will be having a Uniform Sale after break, so watch The Buzz for news!
Yesterday, Father Fisher talked about the Sermon on the Mount, and letting your light shine before others. He included an example — Craig Stammen (Washington Nationals relief pitcher) who shares his faith quite openly. The students seemed to appreciate how he is Walking the Walk. Here is an article that was in The Catholic Reporter about him last year: http://www.ncregister.com/daily-news/washington-nationals-pitcher-arms-himself-with-prayer. Students in grades 4, 6, and 8 sent him notes of encouragement and support, which will be delivered to him this weekend at Spring Training by a friend of our pastor. He often asks about our students — so keep #35 in your prayers!
Have you walked around the back of the school this year? Ben Dean (Class of 2012) built a garden for his Eagle Scout project. Ben and his fellow Boy Scouts worked with Mike Thieman to cultivate the garden, and now Mike is turning the Busy Bees Garden into a high-tech STEM project! He and Mrs. Park will be teaming up to involve our students in the science of gardening. I will let him tell you more – but I want you to know now that this exciting project is underway.
The 5k will be here before we know it. Go to PRRaces.com and register!
On Tuesday, March 24, we will be closing the school office right at dismissal. We have to have some plumbing repairs and the noise from machinery will cause quite a bit of noise. Extended Day will be open as usual, but the School Office will be closed.
The Knights of Columbus are sponsoring a Pancake Breakfast this Sunday after the 8:00 and 10:00 Masses. Have a good weekend!
God bless,
Barbara Dalmut
