Update from Mrs. Dalmut – May 25: Shakespeare Performances, Super Day, Summer Book Fair

Dear Parents,

Welcome to the last week of May! It’s amazing how fast this school year is drawing to a close. Tomorrow we have several classes going on field trips. Please get your children to school on time so they don’t miss the bus!

On Wednesday, all classes will see our 8th graders perform Twelfth Night at 2:00pm.

Then, on Thursday, our faculty and the 8th grade parents will have a special dinner with the 8th graders, followed by another performance of the play at 8:00pm. All are invited to attend the 8pm performance. Their performance at PVI High School was great, and they are ready to share their talents with us!

Dress-down days for the week: Battle of the Books team on Wednesday; 6th grade winners of the Box Tops competition on Friday.

SUPER DAY for grades 4 and 8 will be Friday. They will have a day they have customized to be their idea of a perfect day at school. The PTO Board is working in conjunction with me and the faculty to make this day very special.

SUMMER BOOK FAIR: This book fair is a Buy-One-Get-One Free fair. This is a great opportunity to get books for your children to read over the summer break. On Thursday, your children will have a chance to look at the books and make a wish list. You may come with them on Thursday from 3:00-8:00, or give them money to purchase their own books on Friday. The books will be packed up at 2pm on Friday, so be sure to come in before then. The teachers will give you their choices for the summer reading books before Thursday. Be sure to come by — even during the school day. Children need to be reading all summer. Fairfax County has a summer reading program that they may participate in. Take advantage of every opportunity to encourage them to read!

There is a dance for our 7th and 8th graders at Nativity School in Burke on Friday night. Students get a chance to mingle with students from other Catholic schools, and sharpen their social skills. We are always very proud of them and the way they represent St. Ambrose!

My son’s wedding was absolutely beautiful. Thank you for all your prayers — we could not have had better weather, and it was a real family celebration!

God bless,

Barbara Dalmut
