Update from Mrs. Dalmut – Uniforms, School Pictures, Parenting Seminar, ICC Lecture and Dinner

Dear Parents,

Happy All Saints Day! Enjoy that extra hour of sleep tonight as we turn our clocks back an hour!  The cool weather brings the reminder that students need to be dressed appropriately for the weather every day. They will go outside to play unless it is dangerously cold or raining/snowing. Winter uniforms include sweatpants and sweatshirt for PE days, and winter sweaters/vests for their regular uniform. I visited the uniform store today and want to make some clarifications:

All boys K-8 and girls in 6-8 may wear the sweater vest OR sweater. Girls in K-5 wear the cardigan sweater. I corrected this information at Flynn & O’Hara.

Girls in all grades may wear the navy dress slacks. The handbook unfortunately does not state that girls can wear pants, but they  may! It does tell you where you can purchase them — even Lands End for pants and shorts!

All boys except Kindergarten must wear their belts and ties every day.

Polo shirts are for the spring/fall uniform only. Students wear white oxford shirts (all boys, and girls 6-8) or white Peter Pan collar blouse (girls K-5).

Picture day is Tuesday — so please take a moment this weekend to make sure you have all the proper uniform pieces. Your children are wearing their uniforms with pride this year — thank you for your support!

School Picture Day is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 4, with makeup pictures on Dec. 5. Pictures are provided as a service to our parents, and are used for our school yearbook. Your child was provided with a Picture Order Envelope in the Wednesday folder. Please complete the envelope and have your child bring it to his/her teacher before Picture Day. If you did not receive an envelope or have misplaced it, extra envelopes are available in the school’s main office. New this year: If you would like to pay for your pictures with a credit card, you may go to https://splendidprepay.com/ and pre-pay for them. Write your confirmation number on the envelope and have your child bring the envelope to school.

Please plan to attend the PTO’s parenting seminar this week. The seminar is free.  The same presentation will be made on Tuesday night from 7-9pm and Wednesday morning from 9-11am in the Parish Hall. Two hours of your time will be time well spent if you can accomplish just one of the items below! Having a peaceful home is a real gift — come see for yourself — and bring a friend!

Kirk will demonstrate 10 ways to:

• Get your kids to listen the first time.

• Stop defiance, disrespect and yelling.

• Stop whining, tantrums and sibling fights.

• Get kids off video games/screens without a fight.

• Create stress-free mornings, homework time and bedtime.

Also, if you would like to attend an excellent program on Angels and Demons, here is the info from the Institute of Catholic Culture for their program tomorrow night:

How do angels affect our lives?  How do demons influence our decisions?  This Sunday, the Institute of Catholic Culture will welcome Dr. Peter Kreeft for a special presentation onSpirits of Light and Darkness: A Study of Angels & Demons.”

Please note the unusual times for his lecture – we will begin at 5:00 p.m. with a dinner (free of charge!), followed by Dr. Kreeft‘s lecture from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.  As always, this event is open to the public, completely free, and no registration is required.  Dinner seating will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis, so please come early to get a good spot.

Please bring your family and friends for what promises to be a wonderful evening.  We will see you at 5:00 p.m. at St. Ambrose Catholic Church.
Enjoy your weekend!

Blessings,

Barbara Dalmut
