Update from Mrs. Dalmut – September 15, 2014

Dear Parents,

First, can we talk sports?

–Our Track Program is well underway.

–Tennis teams are filled, and our students will be working with the Holy Spirit teams this fall. Mr. Olaf Burke will become the Tennis Coach for St. Ambrose in the spring. We are looking forward to starting our own program!

–Volleyball will resume in the spring.

–Basketball is about to begin!

In order to run this popular program, we need a team of three volunteers to serve as a committee to run the JCYO Sports Program for the parish. Dave Guy moved to Houston, but will be available for questions and concerns . The three positions are Parish Representative, Treasurer, and Equipment Manager. If you have any interest in being part of this team, and have a few friends you’d like to work with, please let me know! We can’t start basketball until we have a JCYO planning team in place.

I think that you know the JCYO program has my full support. I believe that children need to have a balanced education, and that includes healthy bodies. They learn so much about cooperation, teamwork, and how to be a good representative of their school. There is more to sports than athleticism, so please let me know if you want to be a part of this worthwhile program!

Second, please complete your Safe Environment requirements before signing up for Cafeteria or Playground duty. You must attend the Virtus class, turn in all the paperwork, and have your background check completed before you can volunteer in the school. Hot lunch orders for October will be in the Wednesday folders this week. The deadline for ordering for October is Friday, Oct. 26. Thank you for your cooperation!

Third, the parish has a monthly food collection on the 3rd weekend of each month. If you can bring in any of these items to Mass this weekend, they will be greatly appreciated:

Canned meat and tuna, canned vegetables, soups, pasta sauce, peanut butter and jelly, cereals (hot and cold), rice, canned fruit, juice, pasta, baby food, beaus, paper products. No glass items, please!

Finally, this weekend the parish is having a Parish Activities Fair in the Gym after all Masses. If you want to get more involved in parish life here, please make a point of attending. There is a Pancake Breakfast on Sunday morning, so plan to come and visit and enjoy the Knights’ delicious cooking!

God bless,

Barbara Dalmut
