Friday message – December 1

Dear Parents:

It is hard to believe that we are already into the month of December, and that means that Christmas is just around the corner.  But first we enter the season of Advent.  This is our preparatory time for the coming of Christ.  For an interesting article on the history of the Advent wreath, see this one in the Arlington Catholic Herald: http://catholicherald.com/Faith/Your_Faith/Straight_Answers/The_history_of_the_Advent_wreath/

As a follow up to the email earlier this week on uniforms, I realize that I had listed only the requirements for middle-school.  For the entire uniform requirements please see the following link: http://stambroseschool.org/wp-content/uploads/Dress-Code_2017-18.pdf  I have told the students that beginning next Thursday we will start issuing notices for uniform violations.

Next week, schools across the diocese will celebrate “Catholic Schools Care About Catholic Charities.”  The Catholic Charities of our diocese support many needy people in our own community, from food and housing to mental health support.  For our part, we will have a dress-down day next Wednesday, December 6  (11:30 am dismissal).  Minimum donation is $1, but any amount is appreciated.  All money will go directly to Catholic Charities.  Thank you for your generosity in this time of giving.

Continuing on your generosity, we are still collecting toys for Santa’s Ride!  You can place new, unwrapped toys in the boxes in the school lobby.  It is possible that Santa might show up sometime to thank the students in person (shhhhhh – more information to follow!!).

I wish you a blessed and peaceful weekend.
