Friday Message – March 10

Dear Parents:

Next Monday, March 13, there will be no school for students. Teachers will have a professional development day.  The following Monday, March 20, we will have an optional dress-down day.  Given the proximity to the Feasts of St. Patrick and St. Joseph, for $1 students may wear green or red.  The proceeds, through the Leo Club, will go to TEACH, an organization that provides school supplies for needy children in Guatemala.

Tomorrow, March 11, the Office of Catholic Schools will hold its annual Teacher Job Fair.  If you know of anyone who may be interested in working in our Catholic Schools, please let them know.  The fair will be held at Paul VI High School from 9:00-11:00 am.

Tuesday, March 21 will be Spring photo day. Please look for information in next Wednesday’s folder.  We will continue having Stations of the Cross on Fridays during Lent at 2:30 pm.

A reminder that the financial aid deadline is next Friday, March 17.  Only families that have applied and are verified through FACTS are eligible for any tuition assistance.  To be verified you must submit your 2016 tax forms.  In addition, family income, per the financial assessment, must meet the 2017 Federal Poverty Guidelines.  Please go to www.online.factsmgt.com to apply.

With the potential for inclement weather next week, this is a gentle reminder of our policy:

St. Ambrose Catholic School follows the decision of Fairfax County Public Schools for closings and delayed openings.  Announcements may be heard on WMAL-AM 630 and WTOP-FM 103.5, FCPS Channel 21, and the Fairfax County Schools webpage—fcps.edu.  In the event that a delayed opening of school is announced on a day when an early dismissal has been scheduled, there will be no early dismissal that day. On days when Fairfax County schools are not in session, parents will be notified through phone calls and emails from the school about any delays or closings. On delayed opening days, the Extended Day Program will open one hour before the opening of school.  (e.g., if there is a one hour delay then the Extended Day will begin at 8:00 and if there is a two hour delayed opening it will open at 9:00).  Children who arrive at school before the appointed delayed opening time will be placed in the Extended Day Program and charged accordingly.  On early closing days due to bad weather conditions, Extended Day children should be picked up as soon as possible, and no later than two hours after the early school closing.

Have a great weekend!  God bless.
