Hello! I'm Laura Ruiz, and I was born into a loving and Catholic Colombian family. From a young age, I discovered my passion for working with children. Graduating Cum Laude, I completed my degree in early childhood education before moving to the United States in 2020 to work as an Au Pair. After being an Au Pair, I worked diligently as a full-time child caretaker to fund my pursuit of a Master's degree.
In 2022, I was granted a scholarship to Nebrija University in Madrid, Spain, where I completed a Master's program in Cognition and Emotion in Educational Context. After graduating, I returned to the United States in June 2023, and I am thrilled to continue teaching at Saint Ambrose for my second year.
This year, I am the Homeroom teacher for the Little Knights, and I am the full-day teacher for both the Little Lambs and Little Knights classes. During the summer, I had the privilege of attending Boston College to develop and prepare the dual-lingual (50% Spanish - 50% English) program for Pre-K 4, which I am excited to implement this school year.
My passion lies in understanding neuroscience and utilizing this knowledge to create engaging and age-appropriate learning environments in the classroom. I firmly believe that problem-solving, hands-on activities, creativity, and teamwork are essential elements for fostering meaningful learning experiences for my students.
Cheerful, proactive, orderly, social, and responsible these are the traits that define me as a person. Communication is vital to me, and I enjoy outdoor activities, exercise, swimming and baking. I particularly love cupcakes, and my peaceful moment during the week is Sunday mass with my husband.
I am filled with excitement to begin another wonderful year at Saint Ambrose! Let’s have fun
