on Laird has served as the Director of Music at St. Ambrose since November 2022, but has served as an organist or music director since 2006 (including 14 years within the diocese). As a liturgical musician, Mr. Laird’s specialty is Gregorian chant, which holds “pride of place” in the liturgy (Sacrosanctum Concilium, 1963).
Outside of the liturgy, Mr. Laird has performed as a soloist or accompanist (piano and organ) throughout the US, including performances at major venues such as the Kennedy Center, Carnegie Hall, and the US Capitol, as well as internationally.
Mr. Laird holds the degree Bachelor of Arts in Geography from Virginia Tech and the degree Master of Music in Sacred Music from The Catholic University of America. He is an Oblate of the Order of St. Benedict, affiliated with Clear Creek Abbey in OK. He lives in Woodbridge with his wife Sarah and children.
