Curriculum

Hands-on Learning
Children are provided hands on learning experiences with manipulatives and early literacy materials. We use the Learning without Tears curriculum.

Academic Enrichment
Music, Spanish, Creative Movement, Art, Library, and Computer activities enrich each child's experiences. Additionally, students spend time outside on the playground each day.

Growth In FaithOur curriculum incorporates the liturgical calendar and monthly themes include elements of religious education appropriate for preschoolers. We use the Seeds curriculum in religion classes. All classes attend chapel time in church once a month.

Dual Language Program
Our PreK 4 classroom is a dual language classroom, meaning students learn in both English and Spanish. The teachers teach one day in English and then the next day all subjects are taught in Spanish.

Jan. 6 (Mon) Students Return to School
Jan. 20 (Mon) No Preschool: Martin Luther King Jr. Day Holiday
Jan. 22 -24 (Wed-Fri) Parent Teacher Conferences. (Preschool classes will be in session on conference days). A Sign-Up Genius will be sent out early in January to sign up for a conference.
Jan. 26 (Sunday) SAINT AMBROSE OPEN HOUSE 11:00-1:30 pm
Jan 29 (Wed) ALL PRESCHOOL STUDENTS DISMISSED 11:30 am. No full day session (Faculty luncheon for Teacher Appreciation Day and preschool teacher meetings).

Health & Safety
- The Commonwealth of Virginia and the Fairfax County Health Department require that health forms with current immunizations be submitted at the start of each school year.
- All preschoolers must be “potty trained” before entering our program.
- St. Ambrose School's nurse is on duty to care for children who may become sick during the school day.
