Welcome from Mr. Elliott

Dear Saint Ambrose School Parents,
May the peace and love of God, our Father, be with you and your families!

It has been a whirlwind 48 hours for me but I am thrilled and overjoyed to take on the role of interim principal of your wonderful school. I truly appreciate the welcome and help I have received from the teachers, school staff, and parish staff of St. Ambrose as I learn about your customs, culture, and traditions. It is easy to see why St. Ambrose Catholic School is such a special place.

Please allow me to give a brief introduction of myself. I have served the Arlington Diocese as principal of St. Patrick School in Fredericksburg for the last 21 years. Working with children in a Catholic school setting has always brought me great joy. I hold a bachelor’s degree in education from Marshall University and a master’s degree in Administration & Supervision from Virginia Tech. During the last 36 years I have worked as an educator in preschool through high school settings.

Even though our summer break is coming to an end the teachers and I are truly looking forward to seeing the children on Monday. If you are able, please stop by the school tomorrow with your children after 12:00 noon and drop off your school supplies in the classrooms so you don’t have to carry them in on Monday.

We will be in uniforms on the first day of school and the students may wear the optional warm weather uniform. School begins at 8:07 every day and dismisses at 3:10. However, we will dismiss at 11:30 on Monday and extended day will only be available until 3:00 in order to get ready for the ice cream social at 6:00.

I look forward to meeting you in the days to come at the ice cream social and at school. In the meantime feel free to call me at the school if you have any questions or concerns and please enjoy these final days of the summer break with your children.
God bless,
George Elliott, Principal
