Welcome from the Principal
Dear Prospective Parents:
Welcome to St. Ambrose School!
Founded in 1995, Saint Ambrose Catholic School is located in Annandale, Virginia. Part of the St. Ambrose Parish, it is a co-educational school serving students in preschool and kindergarten through eighth grade. The spirit of Christ permeates our rich tradition of developing the whole child: spiritually, academically, socially, physically and emotionally.
Saint Ambrose takes pride in its students and prepares them for success. They score well above the national average on standardized tests such as the TerraNova, as well as excelling in music, art, science, and athletic competitions. Our students are accepted into the top high schools in the Maryland, Northern Virginia, and D.C. area. Their achievements there are attributed to hard work and perseverance in meeting the demands of a challenging curriculum. We know that our graduates recognize their own dignity and strengths and understand that these qualities are essential for a life permeated with meaning and hope. In that light, they continue the Saint Ambrose Legacy of Scholarship, Faith and Service and are well-prepared to accept the challenges that lie before them with the solid foundation begun here.
Our faculty is made up of a group of highly dedicated, professional men and women whose love of children and service to God are clearly evident. Whether it is in the use of technology, differentiated instruction, or a nurturing spirit, they bring out the best in their students and each other.
Our facility, situated in a park-like setting, provides students with a warm, inviting environment in which to grow. Whether it is in Church, the gymnasium, playground, art, music, science, resource room, library or classrooms, students are learning in a safe and secure environment.
Jesus Christ is the reason for our school. Through daily prayer, weekly Mass and a weekly confession schedule we welcome Christ into our daily lives. Our parish priests are very present and teach weekly Religion classes. Together, we help students develop into young adults who are confident, intelligent believers using their gifts and talents to live out the message of the gospel. We are blessed to include a wide range of nationalities, languages, cultures and backgrounds. Diversity is celebrated and deepens the awareness and respect for God’s creation.
As you can see, there is much to love about Saint Ambrose. We are confident that, together, we can make a difference in your child’s life. We love our school and know you will too.
Yours in Christ.
Very Rev. Andrew J. Fisher
