Update from Mrs. Dalmut April 15: fees due, Terra Nova Testing next week, new HVAC in gym wing

Dear Parents,
Best wishes to Krista Gauthier who is running the Boston Marathon on Monday! What an accomplishment! Please know that for those of you who prefer shorter distances, or even prefer walking, we have a 5K Peace Run on Saturday, May 2! Be sure to join me (I am in the walking group!)

Please note that all fees for 2015-16 are due on Friday, May 1. Please see the school website: http://stambroseschool.org/admissions/tuition-and-fees-2012-13/. We will begin ordering books and supplies for the upcoming year, so please do not miss the deadline. If you have a financial difficulty, please contact Mrs. Smith at ismith@stambroseschool.org, or call the office at 703-698-7171.

Next week is Terra Nova Testing Week! We will be testing grades 3-7 in the mornings. This is a change from previous years when we also tested grade 2. If your children are sick, please do not send them to school. We will limit homework — but please don’t celebrate and keep the kids out late! They need to get plenty of rest.
Each student should bring:

  • 2 #2 pencils
  • A good eraser or two
  • Uniform sweater or PE sweatshirt in case it’s cool in the classroom
  • A water bottle to stay hydrated
  • A book to read in case they finish a test early

The best thing you can do for your child is to give them encouragement. A few comments like, “Don’t you just love Terra Nova Week? Less homework!” and “Show us how much you are learning!” or “Give it your best effort!” Give them a healthy breakfast, send in a healthy snack, and make sure they get lots of sleep.

The new HVAC system for the gym wing will be finished on Friday. We have had workers in the building replacing the system since Wednesday of Holy Week. It was a major effort, and we are almost finished. Thank you for your patience. The preschool will continue to use the front doors of the school for the rest of this week.
God bless,
Barbara Dalmut
