Update from Mrs. Dalmut – February 17: Ash Wednesday, Lent, schedule changes

Dear Parents,

I hope this finds you well — and not too stir-crazy! We will wait for Fairfax County to see what they decide. My road isn’t plowed  yet, so it will be an interesting morning!

Tomorrow is Ash Wednesday, and we will go to 9:00 Mass. IF we open 2 hours late, please try to go to Mass with your child. You can go to St. Ambrose Church or a church near your home. Start Lent off right! Take some time to reflect on how you will celebrate the Lenten season, and talk with your children. They will be talking about it in school, and may have some ideas for you too! If you can’t get to Mass, take some time at 9:00 to join together in prayer. Say a rosary and read the readings for Mass.

Since we are going to Mass on Wednesday instead of Thursday, we are changing the schedule. Students who have PE on Wednesday will have it on Thursday this week, and should wear their PE uniforms on Thursday, not tomorrow.  Everyone should be in their full winter uniform for Mass tomorrow. We will follow the Thursday class schedule even if we start 2 hours late! Band lessons will begin at 1:00 and there will be after-school Band. It will be an interesting day!

There will be Stations of the Cross on Friday at 2:30. Please join us each week.

Stay tuned to see if there is an announcement about a delayed opening tomorrow. Watch for Fairfax County Schools.

Stay safe!
