Basketball Free Throw Championship Competition

St. Ambrose Knights of Columbus Council 8403 will host the annual basketball free throw competition for children ages 9 – 14.  The competition is open to all who attend St. Ambrose Catholic School, Religious Education, or are home schooled and live in the Parish. Participation in a basketball team is NOT required.  All boys and girls 9 to 14 years old are eligible to participate and will compete in their respective age divisions.  All contestants on the local level are recognized for their participation in the event. Participants are required to furnish proof of age and written parental consent.  Normal rules of basketball regarding free throws apply for all levels of competition.  Each contestant receives 15 consecutive Free Throw attempts from the appropriate age-designated foul line (ages 9-11 use 12 ft foul line; ages 12-14 use 15 ft foul line). To break a tie, contestants take a second round of five free throws.

The competition will be Sunday, January 21 from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm in the St. Ambrose school gym. There will be certificates for all competitors and awards for age-group champions.  Contact Tom Svercl, 703-209-9782, for additional details.
