Welcome, new faculty members!

Dear Parents:

As you know, I have sent emails over the course of the summer as staff changes have occurred.   I have made some rearrangements in order to best utilize each teacher’s strengths and talents and to focus on the needs of the students.  The information below is to consolidate all of the changes. As with any school year, each new teacher will be assigned a mentor based on grade level and/or subject area.  In addition, new teachers will have a chance to meet with other grade level teachers at the beginning of, and throughout, the school year through meetings and professional development.  Please join me in welcoming our new teachers and showing them what a great family St. Ambrose School is!

1st grade – Mrs. Melinda Gomes

Mrs. Gomes has been a teacher at Corpus Christi School for six years.  She has been the lead teacher in a preschool class, bringing her early childhood experience to our school.  She holds her catechist certification and her VCEA teaching certificate.

2nd grade – Ms. Mallery Holleran

Ms. Holleran graduated from George Mason University in 2017 with a bachelor’s degree in Integrative Studies, with a concentration in Elementary Education. She is planning on pursuing a Masters in Elementary Education in the near future.  Ms. Holleran has been a part of the St. Ambrose School community for four years, as a teaching assistant in 1st and 2nd grades.

3rd grade – Ms. Elizabeth Beaulieu

Ms. Beaulieu has a Masters in School Counseling from Marymount University and is working on her Masters in Elementary Education.  For the past year she was a school counselor at a DC high school, and, previous to that, did a full year internship at Carlin Springs Elementary School in Arlington.  While there she conducted weekly lessons in grades 1-5, and conducted observations for students as part of the special education process, among other duties.

4th grade – Mrs. Andrea Greblleshi

Mrs. Greblleshi earned her Masters in Education from Marymount University in May 2015.  Her teaching experience has been diverse, from pre-kindergarten lead teacher, elementary summer school teacher, and elementary special education teacher, as well as working at the National Education Association.  She has recently returned to this area.  Ms. Greblleshi will be the 4th grade home-room teacher, as well as the 5th grade Math and Science teacher (Mrs. McCormack will teach 4th grade Social Studies and Language Arts).

Music – Ms. Kayleen Nagurny

Ms Nagurny joins us with 10+ years as a piano teacher.  She is also a cantor at All Saints Church and is involved in the theater ministry at her church.  She is a graduate of Franciscan University of Steubenville, Ohio, and has run several girls camps.

PE – Mrs. Amy Wise

Mrs. Wise returns to Catholic schools after a break to raise her children.  She was formerly a PE teacher at St. Michael’s School in Annandale.  Mrs. Wise will also supervise recess each day.

I look forward to welcoming back all of our students in a couple of weeks.  See you at the ice-cream social on August 25!
