Used Uniform Sale on Sunday, August 20th; Tech Giveaway; other events happening soon

Dear Parents:

As summer is rapidly coming to an end – where did July go?! – I wanted to send out a few school and parish items.  I will be out of town for the next few days in Seattle (I will send a photo) so please call the school office if you have questions on any item.

SCHOOL: St. Ambrose is hosting a VIRTUS session on August 30 for any interested volunteer.  It will be held in the evening.  This training is a requirement for anyone wanting to volunteer with any ministry in the diocese, including schools,  that involves children.  Please go to www.virtus.org to sign up.

The school will be having a Used Uniform Sale Sunday August 20th in the gym from 11am-1pm. Attached are the uniform guidelines and tags that must be used for the sale if individuals would like to consign uniforms. Uniforms that are being donated do not need to be tagged, only clean (no stains, no pet hair) and in good condition. Uniforms must be dropped off by 12pm Friday August 18th to be included in the sale. Volunteers are needed to help sort, set up and assist buyers. A sign up genius is included if you can help. Sort and set up will happen Saturday August 19th from 1pm-3pm (volunteers get first dibs but must help!) Contact Margaret Kelty at mjkelty@hotmail.com if you have any questions.  Our gratitude  goes to Margaret Kelty for organizing this.

Please see this opportunity to nominate our school (thanks to Sharon Driscoll for finding this): SignUpGenius is giving away $5,000 in the Back-to-School Genius Tech Giveaway. You can nominate your favorite school (St. Ambrose!) for a chance to win! http://www.signupgenius.com/about/2017-back-to-school-technology-giveaway.cfm

A school family is in need of an afternoon carpool Monday-Friday (not Tuesday).  Student lives in the area of George Mason near the intersections of Braddock and Ox Roads.  Transportation costs can be provided.  Please contact the school if this is something you may be able to help with.

PARISH: As you know we are close to beginning the parish construction project for building a new church and expanding the school.  The following flier was in our parish bulletin a couple of weeks ago and as some of you are not parishioners, or may have been on vacation, I thought I would share it with you.  Master Plan update

And finally, the Women of St. Ambrose have organized a pilgrimage to Emmitsburg to visit the Grotto Shrine and the Mother Seton Shrine.  Details are in this flyer.

I hope you enjoy the last couple of weeks of summer.  May you have safe travels, peaceful days, and I look forward to seeing you all on August 28.

Sincerely

Angela Rowley
